On Friday, the Hockey Hall of Fame announced that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a 2021 Hall of Fame class will not be named and that 2020's inductees will be honored as a stand-alone class during the Induction Weekend that was previously slated for the 2021 inductees.

The 2020 class, which includes former Blackhawks Marian Hossa and Doug Wilson, are now slated to have their Induction Weekend Nov. 12-15, 2021.

The Hall of Fame's Board of Directors reached the decision on Thursday during a teleconference.

“The magic of the induction weekend from the perspective of the new inductees is participating in several days of close interaction with family, friends, former teammates, fellow legends and fans,” Lanny McDonald, chairman of the Hockey Hall of Fame said. “On that premise, the Board felt that this was the right decision to bestow upon the Class of 2020 the recognition and lifetime experience they so richly deserve in all ways consistent with past induction classes.”
