First look: Lehner's sleek new pads with Golden Knights originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago
One of the most fun parts of following goalies across the NHL is seeing what incredible artwork they don in the net. Before retiring, Corey Crawford caused a stir with his nightmare fuel mask. Now, Robin Lehner is buzzing for a slick pair of new pads.
The dual knights are a nice touch, as they look like a fearsome guard when the two pads are put together. The angular silver and gold accents add to the overall feeling of ferocity as well.
It’s also a nice play on the theme Lehner used last season with the Knights...
… and the angles are reminiscent of his pads with the Hawk too.
Although it will be tough to beat the all gold kit that Marc-Andre Fleury debuted earlier this year:
With a 2-0 record to go along with a 2.01 GAA and .926 SV%, Lehner has been one of the most fearsome goalies in the league to start the season. Now we’ll see if the fresh pads make him even more impenetrable in net.
