Dallas Keuchel Appears on Track for Thursday Return to White Sox Rotation

Dallas Keuchel on track to start for Sox on Thursday originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

The White Sox put Dallas Keuchel on the 10-day injured list on Thursday, retroactive to Sept. 7 with back spasms. But for one of the elite arms at the top of the White Sox rotation, the stay wasn’t expected to be long.

Eligible to come off of the IL on Thursday for the series finale against the Minnesota Twins, Dallas Keuchel took another step toward that goal on Tuesday. He threw a bullpen session before Tuesday night's game to an audience that included pitching coach Don Cooper, bullpen coach Curt Hasler and staff ace Lucas Giolito in what might have been the final tune up ahead of a Thursday return.

On Sunday, manager Rick Renteria was asked about Keuchel’s progress.

“He’s progressing positively. As we stand right now, we’re still anticipating him making his next start, so we can continue to move forward.”

Tuesday reiterated that.

Keuchel is 6-2 in his first season with the White Sox. His 2.19 ERA ranks second in the American League.
