After rotation shift, Davies starts Sunday vs. Cardinals originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago
Cubs right-hander Zach Davies is scheduled to start Sunday against the Cardinals, the Cubs announced Saturday. Davies and Alec Mills were both options to start, according to manager David Ross.
The Cubs rotation shifted when right-hander Adbert Alzolay (finger blister) landed on the 10-day injured list last Tuesday, joining fellow starter Trevor Williams (appendicitis). The Cubs recalled Kohl Stewart to fill one hole in the rotation, leaning on Thursday’s day off as a placeholder for the other.

Davies (3-3, 4.45 ERA) last pitched on Tuesday, when he threw six shutout innings at San Diego.
Cubs recall Trevor Megill
The Cubs recalled reliever Trevor Megill from Triple-A Iowa. Megill threw two scoreless outings in late April before landing on the 10-day IL with a right forearm strain. They activated him last week after a rehab stint, and he remained in Triple-A.
In a corresponding move Saturday, the Cubs optioned Stewart to Iowa.
