Prior to Sunday’s regular season finale against the White Sox, the Cubs selected the contract of top pitching prospect Brailyn Marquez from their South Bend alternate site.

Marquez, 21, is the No. 64 prospect in baseball, according to MLB Pipeline. Prior to this season, he pitched as high as Class-A Myrtle Beach, making 22 starts last season.

Between Myrtle Beach and Class-A South Bend, he posted a 3.13 ERA in 103 2/3 innings, striking out 128. He was dominant at Myrtle Beach in five starts to end the season (1.71 ERA, 26 K in 26 IP).

The Cubs added Marquez to their 40-man postseason player pool on Thursday. The left-hander possesses a fastball that hits 100 mph on the radar gun.

Infielder Patrick Wisdom was designated for assignment in a corresponding move.

More to come.
