Bears legend and Hall of Fame running back Gale Sayers has died, the Pro Football Hall of Fame announced Wednesday. He was 77 years old.

Shortly after the news, the Cubs paid tribute to Sayers on social media. The team also shared a message remembering Sayers on Wrigley Field's marquee.

Sayers' legendary career and Wrigley Field will forever be tied. He played for the Bears from 1965-71, and the Bears and Cubs shared the Friendly Confines from 1921-70.

Rest in peace to an all-time great.
