Cubs' Kyle Hendricks on Track to Start Sunday Vs. Braves

Hendricks 'ready to go' for series finale with Braves originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

Cubs starter Kyle Hendricks is on track to return to the mound Sunday night against Atlanta.

"Unless something changes, Kyle will pitch tomorrow night," Cubs manager David Ross said on Saturday.

"He’s feeling much better and is ready to go."

Hendricks, 30, missed his scheduled start Tuesday in Milwaukee while feeling unwell. Team president Jed Hoyer said Wednesday that in a non-COVID-19 world, Hendricks likely would have gutted it out and made his start.

However, the Cubs have been exercising caution with anyone exhibiting possible COVID-19 symptoms.

The club recently had two coaches test positive for COVID-19 (Craig Driver, Chris Young), and four players land on the COVID-19 related IL (Jason Adam, Matt Duffy, Dan Winkler, Brandon Workman).

Those four players all tested negative and have since been activated.
