Cubs claim Stock, face 'pen decisions at non-tender deadline originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago
The Cubs claimed right-handed pitcher Robert Stock off waivers from the Red Sox, the Cubs announced Wednesday.
The hard-throwing reliever accrued a 4.73 ERA in 10 outings with Boston this past season. Stock, 31, enters his fourth season in the big leagues. Originally drafted by the Cardinals as a catcher, Stock converted to pitching in 2012.
The Cubs face decisions on several other relivers Wednesday, with the 7 p.m. non-tender deadline approaching. Kyle Ryan, Colin Rea, Ryan Tepera and Dan Winkler and are all arbitration-eligible.
