Cubs, Cardinals to Play Five-Game Series at Wrigley With Two Doubleheaders

The Cubs will soon get their first taste of seven-inning doubleheaders.

The Cubs and Cardinals three-game series at Wrigley Field next week will become a five-game set, with doubleheaders being played Monday and Wednesday. It's unclear if the Cardinals will be the home team for any of the games.

The Cardinals were scheduled to return to play last weekend against the Cubs for the first time since July 29. That series was postponed after St. Louis' COVID-19 outbreak worsened by several positive cases.

Seventeen members of the Cardinals (10 players) have tested positive for the coronavirus in the last two weeks. They're scheduled to return this weekend against the White Sox in Chicago, starting with a Saturday doubleheader.
