Cubs Reactions: Another Seiya Suzuki Historic Milestone, Big Day for Willson Contreras in Loss

Check out Seiya Suzuki's historic feat of the day originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

Kyle Hendricks didn't look good, and the Cubs missed a chance to sweep the lowly Pirates in a two-game series.

But five games into the season some things never change — at least so far for Japanese veteran/rookie sensation Seiya Suzuki.

After hitting a pair of home runs in Tuesday's 2-1 victory, Suzuki reached on a hit and a walk Wednesday and drove in one of the Cubs' runs in a 6-2 loss.

Big deal?

Actually, it is when added up with everything else he's done so far.

Suzuki, a former All-Star and batting champ in the NPB in Japan, is one of only two players since at least 1901 to reach base at least twice and score or drive in at least one run in each of his first five games as a Cub.

The right fielder joins Mark Grudzielanek (2003) with that distinction.

He already had joined last year's American League MVP, Shohei Ohtani, as one of only two Japanese-born players to homer three times in his first four games. And his big game Tuesday also made him the first player in the majors since the RBI became an official stat in 1920 to record at least eight RBIs and four walks in his first four MLB games.

What's next for this guy?

Stay tuned. Because the Cubs' next four games are at Coors Field, starting Thursday night at 7:40 p.m..
