Bulls' Zach LaVine Fires Back After Release of NBA 2K21 Next Gen Rating

Zach LaVine fires back at NBA 2K21 Next Gen rating release originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

NBA 2K21's "Next Gen" edition is coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on Nov. 12.

As such, it's ratings season. And Saturday morning, the Bulls — and Zach LaVine, specifically — caught a stray.

That's... low. LaVine started NBA 2K20 with that same 85 overall rating, then forged the best season of his career, averaging 25.5 points per game and shooting 38% from 3-point range on 8.1 attempts per contest.

That scoring average ranked 11th in the NBA. His six 40-point games ranked fifth. None of that worth even a one or two-point bump?

LaVine, for his part, took notice. He took to Twitter to calling out Ronnie 2K, the de facto face of the game, hours after his rating was released.

Damn Ronnie, indeed.

Of course, on the heels of a 22-win season, the Bulls shouldn't expect abundant praise from the 2K rating czars. But their best player has a legitimate gripe.

If it turns into motivation for another leap in 2021 for LaVine, so be it.
