Bulls' Marc Eversley Expected to Be Considered for Blazers Lead Exec

Report: Eversley expected to be considered for POR exec originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

The Portland Trail Blazers made waves Friday morning by announcing the firing of general manager/president of basketball operations Neil Olshey after an investigation into allegations he cultivated a toxic work environment.

For the time being, Joe Cronin has been elevated to interim general manager, the team said in a statement. But, according to a report from Yahoo! Sports' Chris Haynes, there will soon be a search for a permanent replacement for Olshey, and Chicago Bulls general manager Marc Eversley is "expected to be considered for the vacancy."

Eversley was hired by the Bulls in May 2020 and touted at the time for his talent evaluation skills, relationship-building acumen and wide network of connections, which were developed in past front office stops with the Toronto Raptors, Washington Wizards and Philadelphia 76ers.

In the 19 months since, Eversley has been instrumental to the team's pivot from a youthful rebuild to ascendant contender, particularly in the free-agent pursuit of DeMar DeRozan.

In his current role, Eversley reports to Bulls executive vice president Artūras Karnišovas.

Haynes also listed New York Knicks general manager Scott Perry as someone expected to be considered for the Portland gig.
