The Blackhawks have traded center Carl Soderberg to the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for forward Josh Dickinson and the rights to forward Ryder Rolston, the team announced Monday.
Dickinson, 23, has bounced around the AHL and ECHL this season for Colorado. He has two assists in seven games for the Colorado Eagles and one goal and two assists in eight games for the Utah Grizzlies. His contract expires at the end of the season and has a cap hit of $925,000.
Rolston, 19, registered one goal and five assists in 28 games during his freshman season at Notre Dame. He was originally taken by Colorado in the fifth round (No. 139 overall) of the 2020 NHL Draft.
Soderberg recorded 15 points (seven goals, eight assists) in 34 games with the Blackhawks this season. The 35-year-old forward signed a one-year, $1 million deal in Chicago over the offseason but returns to Colorado, where he set a career-high in goals (23) during the 2018-19 campaign.
