Bears' Mitch Trubisky Is QB1 Vs. Lions, But Nick Foles Returns to Practice

Foles returns to pratice, but Trubisky's still QB1 originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

On Wednesday afternoon Matt Nagy announced that Mitch Trubisky will start this Sunday's game against the Lions.

The decision comes after Nagy was initially reluctant to say whether or not Trubisky would get a second-straight start in place of Nick Foles, who's been inactive with a hip injury suffered in the Bears' Week 10 loss to the Vikings. Trubisky struggled against the Packers in his first game since Week 3, finishing 26-46 with 242 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions.

"We talked about attacking and aggressive, and there’s a mentality to it," Nagy said. "And you guys have heard me say too, ruthless versus reckless."

"The main thing is taking care of the football. It’s easy to say, a little bit harder to do," Trubisky added. "Going into it, you just have the mindset, ‘I’m going to take care of the football, I’m not going to force things.'"

The Bears also got news from Foles on Wednesday, as the QB returned to practice for the first time in over two weeks. Nagy acknowledged that Foles isn't 100% yet, but said he was pleased with what he saw, even in a limited capacity.

"I thought [Foles] was going back there and he’s making his drops," he said. "I was trying to get a feel for him when he’s in the pocket. You know, is he hesitant with stepping into his throws? What kind of velocity is coming off the ball? And I thought he did a pretty good job."
