Bears' Justin Fields Likes Being Underdog Against Packers

Fields on being underdog vs. Pack: 'I like it that way' originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

When the Bears travel to Lambeau Field, the odds will be stacked against them. They’ll be on the road, in a hostile environment, missing several stars, while taking on a 9-3 Packers team coming off of a bye week, that’s led by a future Hall of Fame quarterback in Aaron Rodgers.

But Justin Fields wouldn’t have it any other way.

“It feels good,” Fields said. “I like it like that. I like it that way.”

Fields is no stranger to big stages. Playing at Ohio State, he was involved in “The Game.” He also led the Buckeyes to two College Football Playoff appearances, including one win against Clemson in which the Tigers were heavily favored.

“I like being the underdog,” Fields said. “I think it just gives me an extra chip on my shoulder. I like when people doubt me. That just gives me a little extra motivation. So I love it.”

Fields also understands what this win would mean not only for his team, but for his city.

“We’ve been wanting to get a win against these guys for a long time now and this rivalry means a lot to not only the people around here, but the people of Chicago, stuff like that. It would definitely mean a lot and I think it would give us momentum in these last five games or after this game, these last four games. It would definitely be great.”
