Dexter Fowler done for season with torn ACL originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago
Dexter Fowler's season is over.
The Angels outfielder and 2016 World Series champ sustained a torn left ACL in Friday's game against the Blue Jays, Los Angeles announced Sunday, and will be sidelined for 6-9 months.

Fowler, on a second inning ground ball to shortstop, ran hard into second base and halted his momentum as he reached the bag, getting caught in between a slide attempt. He dropped to the ground in pain, needing to be carted off the field.
Fowler's injury was originally diagnosed as a knee sprain and he was placed on the injured list Saturday. But an MRI taken Saturday revealed the ACL tear.
Fowler, 35, is in his first season with the Angels, led by former Cubs manager Joe Maddon, after four seasons with the Cardinals. He spent 2015-16 with the Cubs, famously hitting a leadoff home run in Game 7 of the 2016 World Series.
