Adbert Alzolay Rejoining Cubs for Saturday Start Vs. Brewers

Adbert Alzolay rejoining Cubs this weekend originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

Cubs pitcher Adbert Alzolay will rejoin the club this weekend against the Brewers, manager David Ross said Wednesday.

Alzolay is scheduled to start Saturday against Milwaukee, according to Ross.

The Cubs optioned Alzolay, 26, to the South Bend alternate site on April 14, adding veteran swingman Shelby Miller to the roster in a corresponding move. With two recent off days on the schedule, the Cubs wanted to keep Alzolay on a normal schedule.

Alzolay, who was scheduled to start this past Sunday with South Bend, last pitched for the Cubs on April 12, also against the Brewers. He was strong through five innings, allowing one hit, before loading the bases in the sixth inning. He was charged with three earned runs.

Alzolay, who made the Opening Day rotation, also pitched against the Brewers in his first start of the season. He's allowed seven earned runs in 10 1/3 innings this season.
