2021 NFL Salary Cap Predicted to Be as High as $180 Million

2021 NFL Salary Cap predicted to be as high as $180 million originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

The Bears are not flush with a lot of salary cap space to make upgrades to the roster to put the team in a better position to contend for a Super Bowl.

But it does seem like the Bears will be in a more favorable position with salary cap figures projecting to be higher than expected.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported his "league sources believe it will be roughly $180-$181 million. Throughout the past season, many expected it to be around $175 million, but it now is projected to come in slightly higher, per sources."

That's good news for the Bears, though it still might not be enough. Spotrac has the Bears 2021 total salary at $190.7 million and estimated they'd be about $500,000 over the cap.

General manager Ryan Pace will need to do some fancy work to get the cap figure down, all while trying to find a quarterback to salvage the team's 2021 hopes.
