Chicago Cubs pitcher Jose Quintana has already settled in nicely for the North Side squad after being traded from the Chicago White Sox, but don’t expect the hurler to face his former team any time soon.
That’s because Cubs manager Joe Maddon has shuffled around the team’s rotation after the team’s road trip wraps up, and Quintana will not face the White Sox when the two teams face off in a series of four games next week.
Instead, Quintana will pitch in the series finale against the St. Louis Cardinals on Sunday afternoon at Wrigley Field, and then he’ll next take the mound on Jul. 28 when the Cubs take on the Milwaukee Brewers in the opener of a critical series at Miller Park.
The move to bump Quintana out of a start against the White Sox was made as Kyle Hendricks makes his expected return to the rotation next week. Hendricks, who threw five perfect innings in a rehab start earlier this week, is scheduled to pitch on Monday when the Cubs take on the White Sox at Wrigley.
