Hawks Headlines: Shaw, Bickell Thriving After Their Reunion

Also, the Hawks brought their moms to Florida this week

In Friday’s edition of Hawks Headlines, we take a look at the steps the team is taking to try to break their recent run of failure in the third period of games, how Teuvo Teravainen is doing back in his native Finland, and a player who isn’t too worried about not finding the scoresheet yet this season (spoiler alert: that ability to dwell in the present paid dividends on Thursday).

- We start with Chris Kuc, who revealed that the team doesn’t really know what is going on in the third period of games, but they are cognizant of it and trying to fix it (after Kuc wrote this piece, the Hawks scored twice in a weird third period against Tampa Bay on Thursday night). [Chicago Tribune]

- Despite the players being aware of the issues they’ve had in scoring in the third period, Sam Fels makes some good points about how the issue is one that is easily overblown. [Committed Indian]

- Bryan Bickell has really been lighting up the scoreboard since returning to the third line with Marcus Kruger and Andrew Shaw, scoring three times in three games. Clearly, he’s back in his element. [CSN Chicago]

- Andrew Shaw wasn’t worried about his lack of goal scoring this season when Mark Lazerus talked to him, and after scoring a goal on a sweet little deflection off of a Patrick Kane shot on Thursday night, it would appear that his attitude towards not tickling the twine paid off nicely. [Chicago Sun-Times]

- Teuvo Teravainen turned a lot of heads in the Windy City with his play during the World Junior Championships, the Rookie Tournament in Ontario, and in the preseason with the Blackhawks, and he is continuing to do so in Finland. [ESPN Chicago]

- The Rockford IceHogs are a team rolling right now, and they are looking like they could be well on their way to avenging last season’s disappointment in not making the postseason. [Third Man In]

- Finally, the Blackhawks brought along their moms to Florida for the annual Parent’s Trip this week, and the Hawks’ website has a nice gallery of photos of the moms and their sons. To be honest, they all seem like really cool ladies. [Blackhawks.com]
