In Friday’s edition of Hawks Headlines, we take a look at the latest member of the 2013 Stanley Cup champion Chicago Blackhawks to receive his championship ring, as well as a member of the Hawks who might be making his Olympic debut in Sochi.
- Brandon Pirri scored his first career NHL goal for the Blackhawks on Thursday (former Blackhawk and long-time Rockford IceHog Ryan Stanton also notched his first career goal Thursday, but did so for the Vancouver Canucks, who claimed him off of waivers before the season), but he admitted after the team’s 3-2 loss to the St. Louis Blues that the goal was “bittersweet.” [CSN Chicago]
Could Patrick Sharp actually be headed to Sochi to represent Team Canada at the 2014 Olympics? It’s looking more and more likely that he is going to be a serious candidate for the honor. [Daily Herald]

- Andrew Shaw is looking to be more consistent for the Hawks as the team tries to find a line for him to fit in on (for the record, he looked excellent when paired up with Brandon Saad and Pirri on Thursday). [Chicago Tribune]

- Finally, the Blackhawks’ “shoot the puck” tradition has become one of the more notable ones surrounding the team. The Hawks had Chicago Bulls star Jimmy Butler do the honors on Thursday, and even though we’ll have to forgive him for wearing his #21 on a Hawks jersey (Stan Mikita would like some words, Mr. Butler), his clutch gene apparently extends over to the hockey rink:
