Hawks Headlines: Brandon Saad's Olympic Chances Fading

Also, several writers tackle midterm reports about the Blackhawks

Depressed about the Chicago Bears’ loss to the Green Bay Packers? Then cheer up by reading this Monday batch of Hawks Headlines about Chicago’s best hope for a championship, the Blackhawks, as they hit the halfway point of their season over the weekend.

- We start out today with a couple of midterm reports about the Hawks (we’ll have our own later today). First up is Tracey Myers, who wrote an awesome piece recapping the good, bad, and ugly about the Blackhawks’ season thus far. Weirdest stat? Patrick Kane is 0-for-9 in the shootout so far this year. [CSN Chicago]

- Scott Powers also did a nice job with his recap of the first half of the season, dividing stories into just two categories: positives (Kane) and negatives (the penalty kill). [ESPN Chicago]

- Tim Sassone wrote an interesting post about Brandon Saad’s chances of making Team USA’s Olympic roster. He doesn’t give Saad much of a chance, but it has nothing to do with the youngster and rather with the great depth that the US has. [Daily Herald]

- Great story from Jeff Hicks about Josh Harding, who is playing in the NHL despite having multiple sclerosis. [The Sports Bank]

- Team USA is rolling at the World Junior Championships right now, and several Blackhawks prospects, including Ryan Hartman, are a big reason why. [Blackhawk Up]

- We’re big fans of Nick Leddy on this blog, and Mark Lazerus has a good article about the way Leddy has engaged more on the offensive side of things this season. [Chicago Sun-Times]

- Finally, if you’re into photoshops and mockery, then this post about the other six coaches in the Central Division (otherwise known as Conference III among many hockey fans), then this post is for you. [Cheer the Anthem]
