Chicago Services Set for Daryl Hawks

NBC Chicago sportscaster died this month while on assignment in Atlanta

Chicago services have been set for NBC Chicago sportscaster Daryl Hawks, who died this month while on assignment in Atlanta.

Old Saint Patrick’s Church, at 700 W. Adams St., will host a memorial service at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Services were held Friday in Williamsville, New York, near his native Buffalo.

Hawks, 38, died May 12 in Atlanta. He was found unresponsive by hotel staff in his room at Atlanta's Omni Hotel. He'd traveled there with an NBC Chicago photojournalist to cover Game 6 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals.

The Chicago Bulls on Wednesday honored the three-time Emmy winner and former Marine by announcing that his family would receive the ball from that game.

The cause of death remains unknown.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hawks Children Education Fund:
