Hartman Reassigned as Blackhawks Trim Roster to 27

The Chicago Blackhawks dropped a tough decision to the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday night, and on Thursday morning, they continued their preparation for the upcoming season when they assigned Ryan Hartman to the Rockford IceHogs.

Hartman, who was a first-round pick of the Blackhawks in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, spent most of last season with the Plymouth Whalers of the OHL.

He scored 25 goals and dished out 28 assists with the team, and he added four assists in five playoff games. After the playoffs, Hartman made his way to the IceHogs for a limited run, scoring three times and picking up four assists in nine AHL games.

With Hartman's reassignment, the Blackhawks' roster now stands at 27 players, with 15 forwards, nine defensemen, and three goaltenders. The roster has to be set at a maximum of 23 players no later than Tuesday afternoon.
