Palka, who made his big league debut this season and has already established himself as one of the hardest-hitting players on the team, launched a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the White Sox a 1-0 win in the game, and give himself a spot in the team’s record books.
According to ESPN’s Stats and Info, the walk-off home run by Palka is the first in a 1-0 win in the 118 year history of the White Sox franchise.
In just 82 games this season, Palka has hit 18 home runs and driven in 46 RBI. He is second on the team in the former category and in third in the latter, trailing Jose Abreu in both and Tim Anderson on the RBI list.
The White Sox will resume their series against the Cleveland Indians on Saturday night at Guaranteed Rate Field.
