Cubs Fans Write Joe Maddon Thank You Notes at Wrigleyville Restaurant

Chicago Cubs fans are being given the chance to express their gratitude for former manager Joe Maddon’s time with the team thanks to a special mailbox at the ex-skipper’s Wrigleyville restaurant.

The mailbox, located at “Maddon’s Post” near the Friendly Confines, is dedicated to fans who want to write thank you notes to Maddon, who will not return to the team in 2020.

Many fans have stopped by the restaurant to write thank you notes to the manager, who led the Cubs to the 2016 World Series championship.

“My mother is a Cubs fan. She grew up a fan, and she brought us down on the “L” and taught us how to keep score,” Cubs fan Paul Zankey said.

Staff at Maddon’s Post cooked up the idea for the mailbox after the team announced that the manager would not be retained.

“I think it just continues to be a great way for people to feel connected and to stay connected to him,” restaurant operations manager Tara Zavagnin said.

Fans have written around 50 postcards for the manager, who is rumored to be a top candidate for the same job with the Los Angeles Angels.

The mailbox will be available for fans at the restaurant at least through the weekend, according to staff.
