Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Chicago Blackhawks left winger Patrick Sharp is expected to miss at least 2-to-3 weeks after suffering what the team is calling a lower-body injury in Saturday's 6-2 win against the Dallas Stars.
The talented 27-year-old leads the team with 23 goals this season and ranks fifth on the 'Hawks with 38 points through 54 games. He exited the game in the first period and did not return.
The Thunder Bay, Ontario native is coming off a career year when he posted personal bests of 36 goals and 62 points over 80 games for Chicago during the 2007-08 campaign.
Originally a third-round selection by Philadelphia in the 2001 draft, Sharp was acquired from the Flyers, along with Eric Meloche, in exchange for forward Matt Ellison and a 2006 third-round pick on December 5, 2005.
He has tallied 98 goals and 173 points in 330 career games over parts of six seasons in the NHL.
