Chicago Wolves forward Scooter Vaughan has been named the 2017-18 Yanick Dupre Memorial Award as the AHL’s Man of the Year, the team announced Thursday.
Vaughan, who had two goals and 10 assists this season with the Wolves, was one of 30 players nominated for the award, and he received the honor this week.
According to the Wolves, Vaughn created the organization “Kids for Camps,” whose mission is to build brighter futures for kids through participation in sports, regardless of their ability to pay to play those games.
He also founded “Swaggy Clause,” a line of Christmas ornaments and sweaters targeted toward African-American families.
Vaughan became just the second Wolves player to win the award, joining Kurtis Foster, who won in 2004.
