Manuela Schar Wins 2018 Bank of America Chicago Marathon Women's Wheelchair Race

Schar finished second to McFadden from 2013 through 2016 and was third to McFadden and Amanda McGrory, who clocked identical finish times, in 2017

Manuela Schar has finally won her Bank of America Chicago Marathon crown, defeating historic champion Tatyana McFadden and fierce competitor Madison de Rozario in Sunday’s 2018 race.

Schar finished second to McFadden from 2013 through 2016 and was third to McFadden and Amanda McGrory, who clocked identical finish times, in 2017.

This year marks her first victory in Chicago. She finished with an official time of 1:41:38.

"I feel really happy because I almost felt like this race was under a spell," she said.

Schar’s 2018 season has already seen her win in Tokyo and finish fourth in London. She became the fastest wheelchair athlete in history when she finished in 1:28:17 in Boston in 2017.

"It's been an amazing year so far. ... I just try to enjoy it every single time," she said.
