En route to his victory, he catapulted himself deeper into history as the second fastest man ever over 10 miles, splitting 44:46. He finished second at the 2016 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships, and he has finished third and fifth at the London Marathon in 2017 and 2018, respectively.
