Puck Control Key for Hawks

Second chance opportunities offered up by Goalie Corey Crawford hurt the Blackhawks in a 4-1 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers Sunday.

Crawford gave up three goals, two in the first six minutes of the third period.

Philadelphia scored goal number two on a rebound and goal number three in a baseball style redirection in mid-air. While Crawford, protected the goal from post to post, more times than not, he failed to control the puck which allowed Philadelphia to capitalize on the short rebounds.

The best goalie action came on the other side of the ice. The Flyers Sergei Bobrovsky dove, slid and launched his body into action to keep the Hawks from second chance looks.

The Flyers out shot the Blackhawks 34-31 and appeared quicker to the puck.

The only exciting moments in the 60 minute contest for the Blackhawks were Marion Hossa’s penalty shot in the 3rd period and Jake Dowell’s bloody, fist-filled fight in the 2nd period.
