The Chicago Blackhawks trailed the Ottawa Senators early in Thursday’s game, but they stormed back and won a 4-3 decision in overtime to secure two points in the standings.

Brent Seabrook scored a goal in the third period of the game to knot things up, and Patrick Kane scored in overtime to give the Blackhawks their first win of the season.

Here are the team’s Three Stars of the contest:

Third Star: David Kampf

On Seabrook’s goal, Kane will get a lot of credit for his stellar assist from behind the net, but David Kampf helped set things up with a subtle play along the boards.

Kampf ended up winning the puck on the forecheck in the offensive zone, and he pushed the puck to Kane to set up the remainder of the play. Marcus Kruger also helped out as he pushed toward Craig Anderson, and Seabrook finished it off by pinching in between the face-off circles and firing a shot home to tie things up at 3-3.

Second Star: Alex DeBrincat

If the Blackhawks are going to be successful this season, they will need to get more goal scoring out of their youngsters, and DeBrincat helped shoulder that load on Thursday night when he scored in the first period of the game.

On the play, DeBrincat carried the puck into the offensive zone, and as soon as he got across the blue line, he rifled a shot past Anderson to give the Blackhawks an early lead.

He ended up with four shots on goal in the game and played over 18 minutes, including time short-handed, showing some serious versatility and a willingness to do the little things right.

First Star: Patrick Kane

After registering seven points against the Senators last season, Kane got off on the right foot again this season, with a goal and an assist in the overtime victory.

Kane’s overtime goal was a thing of beauty, as he got the puck on the breakaway from teammate Jonathan Toews. After skating past the blue line, he deftly moved the puck to his backhand and lifted a shot over Anderson’s shoulder, ringing it off the top of the net to give the Blackhawks the win.
