Blackhawks Cult Hero Scott Foster Joins Team at Morning Skate

Foster appeared in a game last season, earning the adulation of Blackhawks fans

Chicago accountant Scott Foster became an internet sensation after he played goaltender for the Chicago Blackhawks during a 2018 game, and apparently he isn’t ready to hang up his pads just yet.

On Thursday, Foster was on the ice for the Blackhawks as they went through their morning skate before their game against the New York Rangers. Goaltenders Corey Crawford, who is expected to start the game, and Cam Ward were also at the practice, but Foster will join the team for some optional morning skates this season, the Blackhawks said.

Foster became a cult hero last season when he appeared in a game against the Winnipeg Jets at the United Center. The netminder, who had previously played for Western Michigan University way back in 2005, stopped all seven shots that he faced for the Blackhawks and helped finish off a victory in the game.

It’s unclear whether Foster would be the emergency backup for the Blackhawks again on Thursday, but the puck will drop in the game at 7:30 p.m. whether or not he’s in the building.
