Chicago Blackhawks Sign Brandon Davidson to 1-Year Pact

Davidson had four goals and three assists in 51 games last season

The Chicago Blackhawks have officially made an addition to their blue line, inking defenseman Brandon Davidson to a one-year contract.

Davidson, who had been with the team on a tryout contract during training camp, scored four goals and dished out three assists in 51 games last year, skating with the Canadiens, Oilers, and Islanders.

The contract will pay Davidson $650,000, the team announced in a press release.

The Blackhawks' blue line has seen its share of injuries during training camp, with Gustav Forsling and Connor Murphy both expected to begin the season on injured reserve. The left-handed shooting Davidson will likely fill a sixth or seventh defenseman role on the team, splitting time with Jan Rutta and Erik Gustafsson on the third pairing.
