Cubs Make Roster Move, Recalling James Norwood From Triple-A

Mills pitched six innings on Thursday night, giving up three earned runs

The Chicago Cubs made a roster move prior to their game against the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday, recalling right-handed pitcher James Norwood from Triple-A Iowa.

Norwood has made one appearance for the Cubs this season, throwing a scoreless inning against the Cincinnati Reds in late May. He has six saves in 39 relief appearances with Iowa this season.

To make room for Norwood on the roster, the Cubs optioned pitcher Alec Mills to Triple-A. Mills pitched for the Cubs during a blowout loss on Wednesday night, going six innings and giving up three earned runs after Cole Hamels was chased from the game.

Cubs star Kris Bryant has had quite a career, and here are five fast facts about the All-Star.

Mills has appeared in four games this season, posting a 3.98 ERA and striking out 18 batters while walking seven.

The Cubs will attempt to salvage the finale of their series against the Phillies, with first pitch scheduled for 6:05 p.m.
