Brandon Morrow Could Potentially Return Next Week After Simulated Game

The Chicago Cubs have been dealing with some serious bullpen issues of late, but they could get a late season shot in the arm at just the right time.

Brandon Morrow, out since mid-July with an arm issue, threw a simulated game at Wrigley Field on Saturday morning, and if all goes according to plan, he could be activated to the team’s roster as early as next week.

Morrow has 22 saves this season, and his return would come at an ideal time, as the team just lost Pedro Strop for the regular season after he pulled his hamstring during Thursday’s game against the Washington Nationals.

Manager Joe Maddon has said he will not put Morrow back into the closer role immediately, but if he is able to bounce back quickly, he could potentially see save situations later in the season.
