Cubs Aiming to Host College Football Bowl Game at Wrigley Field: Reports

The Chicago Cubs are busy renovating Wrigley Field, and the newest additions to the ballpark could pave the way for something truly momentous.

The team recently installed new dugouts and removable seating at the Friendly Confines, with the hopes of bringing college football back to the stadium. A one-off game isn’t all they reportedly have planned, however.

According to multiple reports, the Cubs are hoping to bring Northwestern back for a home football game as soon as 2020, and in addition to that, they are aiming to establish an annual bowl game at the Friendly Confines, according to the Chicago Tribune and The Athletic.

The Cubs haven’t hosted a football game at Wrigley Field since 2010, when Illinois and Northwestern were forced to use only one end zone as a result of safety concerns, as the right field wall was too close to the back of the end zone.
