It goes without saying that Taj Gibson is having the best offensive season in his five-year career. The reserve big man is averaging a career-high 12.1 points in 29 minutes off the bench and thinks he should be in consideration for the Sixth Man of the Year award.
"I'd like to think so," Gibson said to ESPN Chicago. “I'd like to look at a sixth man as a guy who helps the team in any kind of situation. I play defense, I rebound, do a lot of different things to help my team. I'm not just looking at scoring, even though my scoring has improved.”
Gibson had a down year last season after signing his four-year extension with the Bulls. But he openly stated he wanted to rebound from what was seen as regression on his part and given the Bulls success of late, that’s what he’s been doing.
"It's all about helping your team. And that's why I look at being the sixth man as a guy that chips in, does it all, not just score."
