Bears' 53-Man Roster Officially Announced

The Chicago Bears have made it through training camp and preseason, and the team has officially set its 53-man roster for the season-opening game against the Green Bay Packers.

There weren’t a ton of surprises for the Bears as they set their roster, but there were some interesting choices made in the process of cutting a 90-man roster down to 53 players. Former draft picks Jonathan Bullard, Stephen Denmark, and Kylie Fitts were all waived by the Bears, as was wide receiver Tanner Gentry.

Tight end Jesper Horsted, who turned heads in the preseason, was also waived, and offensive lineman Alex Bars, who impressed scouts and coaches throughout camp, was also trimmed from the roster.

Here is the full Bears’ roster:

The Bears also cut quarterback Tyler Bray, and placed offensive lineman Blake Blackmar and tight end Dax Raymond on season-ending injured reserve.

Beginning at 11 a.m. Sunday, teams will learn whether they were successful in any waiver wire claims, but the Bears are far down the list of teams who can claim players thanks to their 12-4 season a year ago.

The Bears will also be able to sign free agents beginning Sunday afternoon, and the team could potentially look at wide receiver and offensive line depth.

The Bears will also be able to set their practice squad beginning on Sunday.
