Yu Darvish Set to Make Rehab Start

Darvish has a 1-3 record and a 4.95 ERA with the Cubs this season

Chicago Cubs pitcher Yu Darvish will make another step toward returning to the team on Monday when he makes his first rehab start.

Darvish, who has been on the disabled list since late May with triceps tendinitis, will make a rehab start for the Single-A South Bend Cubs on Monday night when the team takes on the West Michigan Whitecaps.

The rehab start for Darvish comes just in time, as the team is dealing with a slew of injuries and absences. Closer Brandon Morrow has missed time with a back ailment, and reliever Carl Edwards Jr. has been on the disabled list rehabbing an injury of his own.

Starting pitcher Tyler Chatwood has also been out of the mix as his wife is giving birth to a child.

Darvish has a 1-3 record with a 4.95 ERA in eight starts this season. He has struck out 49 batters in 40 innings, but has struggled with his command in his first year with the Cubs.
