White Sox ‘Very Likely' to Recall Jimmy Lambert Vs. A's

Sox ‘very likely’ to recall Jimmy Lambert at Oakland originally appeared on NBC Sports Chicago

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Right-hander Jimmy Lambert is with the White Sox in Kansas City as a member of the taxi squad, but he could factor more heavily into the upcoming series at Oakland.

The White Sox have not yet announced who will start Tuesday against the A’s in place of Lucas Giolito (strained left hamstring). But manager Tony La Russa suggested Saturday that Lambert could be an option.

“The Tuesday game,” La Russa said, “is dependent on what we do the next two days here with some of the guys … if we make it a bullpen game or something. Jimmy is very likely to be activated for that game.”

The prospect has made two spot starts and one relief appearance for the White Sox already this season, allowing eight runs in a total of eight innings. He also played a small role in the team’s 2020 campaign, but after two scoreless outings, he landed on the injured list with a right forearm strain.

In Triple-A this year, Lambert has posted a 4.98 ERA over 18 starts.
