After a Chicago White Sox employee threw one of the wildest first pitches ever, there was only one thing on her mind.
Before Tuesday's game against the Kansas City Royals, Sox employee Mary Ruich was selected to throw out the ceremonial first pitch as part of her reward for being named as an Employee of the Month for the team.
That pitch did not go according to plan, with the ball striking photographer Darren Georgia just feet from the pitcher's mound.
"Darren not being hurt was the biggest deal for me," she said. "I wanted to make sure he was really okay."
The ball went right off Georgia's lens, nowhere near the plate. [[510553691, C]]
"I felt like it was right over home plate," she said. "I thought it was good. I don't know what happened, but something went wrong."
Ruich said that her phone exploded with messages, mostly from relatives and friends, and that she had to shut her phone off to get sleep on Tuesady night.

To apologize for the bad pitch, Ruich baked Georgia a cake, complete with a scuff mark that matches the scratch made on the ball when it struck his camera.
"I have no hard feelings," the lucky cameraman said. "I felt like the whole thing was hilarious."
Ruich was asked whether she would take another chance at a first pitch, and quite understandably, she declined.
"Oh God no!," she exclaimed.
