Tommy La Stella Gets Incredible Revenge on Theo Epstein

Earlier this week, Chicago Cubs infielder Tommy La Stella was forced to take ground balls in khakis after parking in spots reserved for team executives, but on Friday he got his revenge.

La Stella, whose uniform was stolen from his locker in Mesa, got an exquisite bit of revenge on Friday morning as he parked a full-on bounce castle in the executives’ spots:

While Cubs fans naturally hope that this represents an escalation in a prank war between Theo Epstein and La Stella, the Cubs’ President of Baseball Operations settled for a verbal jab in response.

“I don’t know why he put that there,” Epstein told The Athletic’s Patrick Mooney. He’s not tall enough to bounce in it. Neither is (Cubs GM) Jed Hoyer though.”

The war of whimsy started earlier this week when La Stella’s uniform was stolen out of his locker stall. Having to go take infield practice, La Stella took the field in khakis, and reporters snapped photos of the demeaning spectacle:

It’s unclear whether Epstein and Hoyer will return the favor, but knowing their track record, it’s safe to say that we haven’t seen the last of this showdown.
