The St. Louis Cardinals have added another big-name player to their roster, signing relief pitcher Andrew Miller to a two-year contract.

The team announced the deal officially on Friday morning. The contract will have a vesting option for the 2021 season, according to a press release, and will pay Miller $25 million over two seasons, according to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal.

Miller, who has been one of the league’s best closers, struggled last season in Cleveland, posting a 4.24 ERA and striking out 45 batters in 34 innings of work. He only had two saves on the season, but will be expected to take on a big role with the Cardinals.

Miller is just the latest player to get added to the mix in St. Louis, after the Cubs’ bitter rival also added infielder Paul Goldschmidt in a blockbuster trade with the Arizona Diamondbacks earlier this offseason.
