Emanuel Makes Big Bet With D.C. Mayor Over Cubs Series

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel is a massive sports fan, and he’s showing his confidence in the Chicago Cubs by placing a big bet on them to win the National League Division Series.

The Cubs will get their series against the Washington Nationals started on Friday night in Game 1 of the NLDS.

“The Chicago Cubs are on a roll, and there is no doubt that they will Fly the W and take the series,” Emanuel said in a statement. “But in the extremely unlikely event that the Cubs are not victorious, I thought my friend Mayor Muriel Bowser would enjoy some great delicacies from the best restaurant city in America.”

On the Chicago side of the wager, Emanuel has put up sausage from Publican Quality Meats, ribeye steaks from Harry Caray’s Steakhouse, and two growlers of Vice District Brewing Company’s Habitual beer.

On the Washington side, Mayor Bowser has put up half-smokes from Ben’s Chili Bowl and DC Brau beer.

“With our all-star lineup and home field advantage, I am confident that the Nationals will come out of this series victorious,” Bowser said. “I was already looking forward to our win, and now I can also look forward to enjoying some of Chicago’s most delicious treats.”
