Bag of Air From Cubs World Series Championship Listed on eBay

It's no secret that a World Series championship is a boon to retailers looking to cash in on a team's success. From shirts to hats, newspapers to ticket stubs, Cubs fans have been willing to pay top dollar for just about anything related to their beloved team.

One entrepreneur decided to test that theory, listing a plastic bag of air from the World Series on eBay.

The description of the item simply reads "Bag of Air From the 2016 World Series Cubs Win Championship."

It was listed around 2:45 a.m. CST Thursday morning, just hours after the Cubs won their first World Series championship in 108 years. The starting price was $0.99.

As of Saturday afternoon, the bag had garnered 15 bids and had risen to $20.50.

Bidding is set to expire just before 2 a.m. on Thursday morning, one week after it was listed.

The bag is being offered by eBay seller malkour0, who is based out of suburban Schaumburg, according to the site. A quick glance at malkour0's page shows that the bag of air was the only piece of Cubs "memorabilia" for sale among dozens of WWE wrestling action figures and several NBA jerseys.

It's unclear whether the air came from Game 7 in Cleveland, and no proof of authenticity is offered.

Not to be outdone, another seller on eBay named tiwats9 listed a bag of air from when the Cubs won the World Series - but this one was from the seller's house in Memphis, Tennessee.

"I watched the game til midnight last night and at the moment the cubs won I filled a ziplock bag with air from my house and closed it and taped it shut one of a kind," the description reads.

With a starting price of $5.00, that particular item had received just one offer, with bidding also ending on Thursday morning.
