The Cubs, who are off to a torrid 24-6 start to the 2016 season, are featured on the magazine’s cover after a week that saw them take seven straight games off of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Washington Nationals.

According to the magazine, the feature story, written by Charles Pierce, will discuss the team's hot start in relation to the last time they had this good of a run to start the season: 1907, when they won a World Series title.

The piece will also delve into the personal lives of players and coahces on the team as they look to accomplish "the last great American sports story."

The successful week has given them an eight-game lead in the National League Central, the best run differential through 30 games of any team since 1902, and has given them a 99.1 percent chance of making the postseason, according to Fangraphs.

The issue, which will also feature an in-depth profile on legendary Los Angeles Dodgers broadcaster Vin Scully, will appear on newsstands later this week.
