Cubs Recall David Bote, Place Derek Holland on Injured List

Holland is dealing with a wrist injury, according to the team

The Chicago Cubs made a roster move on Sunday, recalling infielder David Bote from Triple-A Iowa and placing pitcher Derek Holland on the 10-day injured list.

Bote, who was sent down to Triple-A by the Cubs on Monday, has 10 home runs and 40 RBI's in 106 games with the Cubs this season. He was recalled after the Cubs were hit with the injury bug on Saturday, as Anthony Rizzo was sidelined with tightness in his back.

Rizzo won't play for the Cubs on Sunday after being removed from Saturday's game against the Washington Nationals.

To make room for Bote on the roster, the Cubs placed Holland on the injured list with a left wrist contusion. Holland suffered the injury during Wednesday's game against the Giants, and his placement on the injured list will be retroactive to Aug. 24.

Holland has a 4.66 ERA in 12 relief appearances for the Cubs since being acquired by the team prior to the MLB trade deadline.
