Moncada was batting in the first inning of the game when he was hit by a pitch from Red Sox hurler Chris Sale. Moncada was ultimately removed from the contest.
According to an update provided by the White Sox, Moncada suffered a right knee contusion, and is considered day-to-day.
Wednesday marks the second day in a row that a White Sox player has suffered an in-game injury. On Tuesday shortstop Tim Anderson was fielding a ground ball when he appeared to injure his ankle. The infielder was removed from the game and was spotted in the clubhouse wearing a walking boot. The team announced that he is undergoing an MRI on the injury, and updates are forthcoming.
The White Sox will next take the field on Friday when they open a nine-game homestand with a divisional showdown against the Minnesota Twins.
