White Sox Place Lucas Giolito on Injured List

Giolito suffered a hamstring injury in Wednesday's loss to the Royals

Chicago White Sox pitcher Lucas Giolito has landed on the 10-day injured list after he strained his left hamstring during a start against the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday.

Giolito had struck out five batters in less than three innings of work before he was pulled from the game after the injury. He is 2-1 this season with a 5.30 ERA and has struck out 23 batters in 18.2 innings of work.

To replace Giolito on the active roster, the White Sox have recalled outfielder Ryan Cordell and right-handed pitcher Carson Fulmer from Triple-A Charlotte. Cordell is batting .323 this season with three doubles and six RBI for the Knights, and Fulmer has a 1.29 ERA and 11 strikeouts in three relief appearances this season.

The White Sox had an extra roster spot after they demoted outfielder Daniel Palka following Wednesday’s game, leaving their roster at 25 players.
